WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 10th OCTOBER 2021

Posted by on

On 10th October 2021, it will have been more than 18 months since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. In some countries, life is returning to some resemblance of normality; in others, rates of transmission and hospital admissions remain high, disrupting the lives of families and communities.

The pandemic has had a major impact on people’s mental health, which is why on Sunday 10th October we raise awareness of World Mental Health Day. It’s time to make quality mental health care for all a reality. World Mental Health Day presents an opportunity to talk about mental health, how we are coping and put steps in place to ensure we are on a path of healthy self-wellbeing both mentally and physically.

Practicing self-care and looking after your mind, body and spirit, does not have to mean meditating everyday but can be going for a walk, having a still moment, taking a long bath, eating well and selecting ingredients that work to support your body during stressful times.

One thing that you would have heard us talk about before is the wonder of ‘Adaptogens’ and how they work to support and regulate your body during stressful times. Many people incorporate adaptogenic herbs for a number of reasons from lowering cortisol, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, to boosting muscle mass and reducing inflammation in the body. Adaptogens are linked to neurotransmitters like dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline which your body triggers based on a response. Adaptogens help your body to regulate these enabling you to handle stress in a more stable and balanced way, they have stimulating properties that work to counteract the harmful effects of stress caused to the immune system and both the neurological and endocrine systems.

With everything happening in our current surroundings we are more than ever placed under rising stress levels. Many people are not wanting to turn to man-made medicine to overcome this period, and seek a more natural support which in some Adaptogen’s case has been used for over 3,000 years! More and more research into adaptogens and the magic behind their healing is underway. So watch this space! But for now if you want to try the wonders of Adaptogens out for yourself checkout our Adaptogenic smoothies and hot chocolate.
